The BrailleNet Association (France, www.braillenet.org)
- The Internet can constitute a powerful tool for inclusion.
- For visually impaired people (VIP), it allows to access services that
were traditionally out of reach.
- The BrailleNet Association was set up to develop this potential in
three main domains :
- access to information,
- access to education,
- access to culture.
- It is a non profit association (French law 1901).
- It was born from the research public sector (INOVA laboratory
from INSERM).
- More than 50 organisms (public and private sector) are members.
- Involved in national
and European funded projects for the visually impaired people.
- Specific actions on Web accessibility since 1997 as:
- Services
on Web accessibility: public information, training, evaluation,
certification.
